Remote Learning
Jul 27, 2020
Thank you so much for your input regarding the upcoming school year. As you know, the safety of our students and staff members remains our top priority in Joliet Public Schools District 86. With this in mind, after monitoring the continued rise of COVID cases across Illinois, reviewing updated guidance, and several sleepless nights, we have decided that we will begin the 2020-2021 school year for all students in Remote Learning. This decision was not made lightly, but we cannot risk the safety and well-being of our students and employees as the uncertainties of this virus continue to evolve. We will reassess the situation half way through the first trimester to see if we can safely transition into our Hybrid Learning Model for the second trimester.
In the next few weeks, parents will receive student classroom assignments and schedules. ALL District 86 students (PreKindergarten through Eighth Grade) will receive a District-issued technology device to use at home for the school year. In addition, we will host a Town Hall Zoom meeting on Monday, August 3rd at 12 noon to share more details about this revised Back to School plan. Information on the Zoom meeting will be posted on the District website and social media accounts.
We are committed to doing everything we can to make the start of the school year seamless. Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding as the health and safety of our students and staff members remain our ultimate goal.
As always feel free to send your questions, comments, and/or concerns to us by using on the district website.
