Partnership: Northern IL Food Bank & Rotary Club of Joliet
May 11, 2018
We have had a partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank for many years. This partnership has been focused on the backpack project which provides a backpack full of food for students to take home for the weekend. The Rotary Club of Joliet asked how they could help with this project.
The Rotary Club of Joliet raised funds from its members and then applied for a Rotary District Grant to supplement the total funds. They provided a check for $1,638 to the Northern Illinois Food Bank to assist in providing more backpacks for students to take home. This will allow for an additional 200 backpacks to be sent to homes across Joliet!
We are grateful to both the Northern Illinois Food Bank and the Rotary Club of Joliet for all of their support!
Lauren Las, Rotarian; Maria Arroyo, Principal Sator Sanchez Elementary School; Dr. Theresa Rouse, District 86 Superintendent & Rotarian work together to fill the backpacks with the food being sent home.
