End of the 2023-2024 School Year
May 06, 2024
May is always a busy month at our schools. Students are attending field trips, taking part in field day activities, performing at spring concerts, and some of our Kindergarten students are even participating in a special ABC countdown to the last day of school. I was wondering why I saw a bunch of students wearing hats the other day; I was told it was "H" - Hat Day! OK, that makes sense!
Congratulations to our 1,077 eighth grade students on your upcoming graduation. I hope these graduates look back on their time spent in Joliet Public Schools District 86 with pride and admiration for what they have accomplished. Thank you for spending your elementary and junior high school years with us. Best of luck in high school and your future endeavors. You will always have a home in District 86!
As we approach the end of the academic year, I want to take a moment to remind you to talk with your children about the importance of following school policies and expectations. These rules are in place to keep students and staff safe. All students are required to meet District expectations, both academically and behaviorally, in order to participate in end-of-the-year activities, including graduation ceremonies.
Please check your children's belongings before they leave for school and know what they have in their backpacks at all times. Safety is our number one priority. Staff will continue to enforce current safety procedures at each school and remind students that if they see a classmate bring something to school that is not allowed, a staff member needs to be told immediately.
We need to work together to make the remainder of the school year a positive and productive experience for everyone. Thank you for your support.
