Early Literacy
District Goal
Early Literacy - All Joliet Public Schools District 86 primary students will be provided with the instruction and support needed to achieve academic success of at least 90% mastery of grade level targets.
Last year we provided three family engagement (hands-on) sessions focusing on Fundations, retelling activities, and strategies that were taught throughout the school day. The family engagement sessions were offered to parents at Keith and Marshall Elementary Schools. We look forward to extending family engagement sessions.

Early Literacy Site Visits
Joliet Public Schools District 86 has shared the great work we are doing in the area of Early Literacy through visits to thirty local Early Childhood Centers. The District has provided these locations with similar activities and strategies that we use daily within our Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. It is important to continue to strengthen the school and home connection.
We are being responsive to our students' academic needs entering Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. Our students come to us with a variety of learning abilities. We value the Early Learning Centers in our community, and their collaboration will help to highlight the importance of our partnership to increase Early Literacy in Joliet Public Schools District 86.
