In addition to planting a tree at the school, the students made posters and recited poems and readings about the importance of trees. The National Arbor Day Foundation recently recognized the City of Joliet for achieving the designation of "Tree City USA" for the 26th consecutive year. Seedling trees were handed out to the third and fourth grade students to take home to plant at their homes or in the community.
